Bad Neighbor Award For This Week

Super Bowl Child Care.jpg

These Bandit signs have been placed all over Oak Cliff ILLEGALLY on medians, street corners, and along sidewalks.

Gentle Ben and I have rounded up 11 of them. How many do YOU have in YOUR collection?

Logitech Squeezebox Internet Radio

Logitech_Radio.jpg

We listen to internet radio a lot here at Geezer Manor. We have an Airport and several Airport Express modules around the house. They’re all connected to powered speakers. We stream from iTunes on an iMac. It’s a system that works well: we like to have the same music or program playing throughout the house.

We decided to try the Logitech Squeezebox Internet radio as a bedside radio. We hoped the Squeezebox would make it easy to change stations at night.

Wowza! What a neat, little radio. It’s small, lightweight, and drop-dead easy to set up. Hardest part of the whole installation was remembering the password for our wireless network. Browsing and searching for internet stations was a snap. Our preset buttons are set for two local stations, the BBC World Service, BBC London Service, NPR Stream, and WRTI in Philadelphia. Best of all, we can still stream from our iTunes library. Or an iPod.

Logitech sells an Accessory Pack that includes a remote and a battery. We’re looking forward to warmer weather, and taking the Squeezebox onto the deck!

Korean BBQ Tacos Have Arrived!

Gentle Ben and like to shop and dine here in Oak Cliff. We hardly ever cross the river, especially now that we can buy beer and wine locally.

Next week, though, will be an exception. We’ll be heading to Goghee To Go, a Korean BBQ Taco stand that will be opening at 2222 Inwood (commonly referred to around here as the Hampton Road Extension).

Formerly, this building near Sonny Bryan’s was painted orange and housed Burgesa, a burger joint.

The owner of Goghee tells us that his beef tacos will feature thinly-shaved ribeye, NOT skirt steak. And they’ll be topped with one of our favorite condiments in the whole world, Gimchee.

Gimchee is pickled napa cabbage.  It is cured and seasoned with red chili pepper flakes, ginger, garlic, sugar and other natural ingredients to bring pickling to a whole new level. The flavors are bold and robust. Light and crisp in texture.

Gimchee is the most popular side dish in Korean cuisine and is also used as a condiment. Gimchee goes well with EVERYTHING. Our caramelized gimchee will add instant flavor and pizzaz. It’s the perfect enhancement to any dish.

Take a look at the offerings pictured on the Goghee web site.

Now, if we could just get them to open a stand on THIS side of the river!

Yep. Walgreen’s Will Be Selling Wine

Here’s a conversation Granny had today with a Suit at Walgreen’s. He was clearing shelf space in the candy aisle.

Granny: “Will you be selling wine?”

Suit: “Yep.”

Granny: “When?”

Suit: “Soon.”

There you have it, Cliffies. The latest update on beer and wine sales here in Oak Cliff.
