Kung Hei Fat Choi! 4707

Happy New Year.

In the Chinese calender, it’s 4707, the Year of the Ox.

According to legend, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. The Ox was the second animal to arrive.

A friend recently told me that the omens for 4707 (2009) are that it will be a good year. Progress will be like that of an ox: slow and and steady but very certain.

Here’s hoping she’s right! We could ALL use some slow, steady and certain progress..

Here’s the Chinese New Year stamp from the Post Office.

Way. Cool,

I think the key is ‘slow, steady, and certain.’ We have had way too much of the ‘fast, erratic, and uncertain’ generated by get rich quick and spend like there is no tomorrow greed. I am doubly attracted to the ‘slow, steady, certain,’ mantra having been born in a year of the Ox and under the sign of Taurus. We need to get back to those virtues.
